A "Salute," to all those who have given all. And to those who still serve in the trenches, in the air, on the sea, and in all the unknown, unspoken places, where duty calls.
If I had one wish, it would be, that for all the death, pain and destruction, that our fighting men, and women have endured, would for once, bring peace to the world.
Remember, as you endure, with honor, and discipline, that your only real reason for what you do and where you go, is to harvest peace. It may seem the farthest possible goal, but all those who have fought and died, did so, in an attempt to run that race, and reach that goal.
And now, the torch is in your grasp, to carry on in that race. Where the prize lies ahead, and only those who bear down with determination, and their gaze fixed ahead, have any chance at all, of reaching the finish line.
May you all find that peace. May the guns go silent, and the birds of prey, sleep in their nests. May the fighting ships, find a quiet harbor, with no need to ever leave them again. May factories, where bombs and weapons of destruction, roll from the assembly lines, close their doors forever.
I sit here, in the quiet of my home. The birds chatter in the trees outside my door. A beautiful peace, with flowers filling the air with their sweet spring time scents. Golden sun gleams through green branches. My eyes full of tears, as I wish I could share this peace with you all!
May this prayer, and my heart felt "salute," to each of you, just for a moment, give you peace.
